Tequila is made the same way as wine, except using blue agave versus grapes, and tequila is distilled at the end of the process. Same process of fermenting the fruit, punching down the pulp into the liquid (as seen in the large photo) and aged in oak barrels. And, just as labeling laws in France require a Bordeaux only to be made in Bordeaux France, in Mexico Tequila must be made in designated Tequila regions to be called Tequila.
